Hyde Park in west London is a Royal Park and used by Londoners as a recreational park and the site of many events such as BT London Live which took place during the London 2012 Olympics.
Traditionally it has been the site of speakers corner where anyone can literally get on their soap box and give free reign to their views. The Suffragettes campaigned for womens rights with demonstrations in Hyde Park and back in 1851, it served as the site of the Great Exhibition which hosted the famous Crystal Palace.
Its an enormous park spanning around 350 acres of prime London land sited near to Buckingham Palace and was first opened to the general public in 1647 and 365 years later the world saw Hyde Park hosting athletes from around the world during the 2012 London Olympics.
